So I checked the bulletins on myspace just now and I came across one from Faery magazine. Most of it was the normal stuff, but then I read this:
One sad note from the event. The delightful Priscilla Hernandez performed at this year's FaerieWorlds. Upon returning home to Barcelona, Spain, she was robbed when leaving the airport and lost many of her personal belongings as well as all of her income from FaerieWorlds and most of the tools that allow them to create such wonderful Faerie Music for all of us. This just shows that not everyone believes in the joyful sharing and community that we do in the Faerie Scene! Please take a moment to visit the website set up by the FaerieWorlds organizers and donate to help Priscella get some wind beneath her wings. Lets show that the Faerie community is really a family.

My main issue with those who would steal is not that they have taken something from someone that rightfully belongs to their victim. It's the fact that they had such a lack of respect for the person that they believed they could steal from them. It's a form of violation, which in any form is unacceptable. I understand some are in the position where they feel that stealing is their only option for survival, but there are other non-violent ways! Crime is not always the answer to these situations. I know speaking from my comfortable couch, typing this on my nice little laptop this might seem like an empty statement from someone who has never been put in the situation of being poor, but where there's a will there's a way. If you want to rise above your situation and not play into your own victim dramas, then you'll find a way that does not harm others.
I went off on a bit of a tangent there, but what happened to Pricella is pretty upsetting to read about. I can't donate a lot, but I'm going to donate something and I'm posting this everywhere I can think of.
